COMETA NEGRA
cosmic sludge

Cometa Negra is a New York City-based band that was formed in 2019. The band consists of three members, Matt Belen, Peter Carlovich, and Winsloe Fideler, and they released their self-titled debut album in May 2020.
The band's sound is characterized by Belen's original riffing and blazing guitar solos, Carlovich's punchy, almost krautrock-esque rhythms, and Fideler's complex grooving bass lines.
Cometa Negra's unique sound melds the crushing psychedelia of stoner and doom metal with the driving, bombastic sound of hardcore punk. The band's lyrics are all in Spanish, and they draw heavily from Belen's Dominican roots. The lyrics evoke a revolutionary optimism filtered through themes of armed struggle, existential strife, and proletarian vengeance.
The band draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of bands, including Black Sabbath, Boris, Sleep, Black Flag, Every Time I Die, The Mars Volta, and NEU!. Overall, Cometa Negra is a band that is pushing the boundaries of heavy music in New York City and beyond, and they are definitely worth checking out for fans of heavy, experimental music.
